SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch

Not every skier is looking for vertical drops, fast chutes, and avalanche warnings. Another class of skier just enjoys catching some wind while winding down a green slope. Being close to nature and family or friends is the top priority for these skiers. Because of this, SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch was established.

Boasting a very friendly environment, SolVista offers a getaway for those hoping to relax amongst the snowy peaks of the Rockies. Nestled in the Continental Divide in Colorado, SolVista is the ideal destination for families hoping to enjoy the snow together.

Not only are the slopes fun to navigate, the surrounding scenery is hard to beat even at the most elite of resorts. Located around 88 miles from Denver, the resort sponsors many activities for families as well as individuals.

Sitting in the lodge sipping on some hot cocoa, skiers are delighted by the relaxing conditions of SolVista. It is this imagery that portrays a typical day at SolVista. Taking a break from the regular insanity of some of the ski parks in Colorado, visitors here are able to take in the natural beauty of the Rockies while also enjoying some moderate to easy skiing. Sol Vista is the place for a perfect day in the snowy mountains of the West.

Sol Vista is a great place for adult beginners and families with younger children (teenagers will get really bored here quick. although Winter Park is an easy drive). If you have a mixed party, some needing more challenges, some beginners, come here and let the advanced skiers go to Winter Park for a couple days.

Nice people, no crowds, few idiots making it miserable for everyone else. Good ski school. Great for building confidence.

If you like a quiet vacation you can stay in a ski in/ski out condo and get in a good workout before lunch before maybe heading down the road for a half day of harder stuff. Not a lot of other activities right there so again, teenagers are best kept somewhere else. (courtesy – SkiTown.com)

My Take: The sound of this place makes me want to go hide out for a week! I haven’t been there yet but in looking at the map it looks like the 1000ft. vertical they have would make for some nice, relaxing sliding around and some of the most spectacular views on the earth. Obviously there are many other hardcore places to go in CO but if you wanted to take it easy and mellow SolVista looks great!
