Never Summer!

by bert on January 7, 2011

Great name huh? We’re tracking, I wish it was Never Summer too . . .

On the best cat skiing trip I’ve ever done (more on that in a minute), I met Chris and Julie who are both a big reason Echo Mountain near Denver is doing so well these days but have since moved on and Chris is the Marketing Director of Never Summer Snowboards. We had an excellent snow cat group and I had a chance to talk with Chris and get a quick video from him about what is going on at Never Summer – check it out:

(do you like the cool Casper the Ghost effect at the beginning of the vid?)

Never Summer Snowboards – pioneers of Reverse Camber

Never Summer is coming up with a lot of cool things; rolling out the “reverse camber” concept is just one of them. The also have a cool deal going with Monarch Mountain to get a day on the snow cat and a day on the mountain with a purchase of a Never Summer snowboard. Chris demonstrated the advancement of the state-of-the-art by ripping hard on the cat trip.

Never Summer + Monarch Mountain

Chris has been engineering an alliance with Monarch Mountain that is great for business for both of them but has me a little worried the masses will discover our little hide-out and it will be paradise lost – but hey, it’s all about Open Source these days right? I wanted to get this post off right away to do my part in spreading the word and also to Thank Greg Ralph, Marketing Director of Monarch Mountain, for making it possible for me to be part of the this cat trip on zero notice – Thanks Greg!

The Never Summer crew on the cat trip . . .

Never SummerChris, Julie, Christy (sp?), Wendy and honorary inductee, Genie were all Never Summer representatives on what I’m calling “my best day of cat skiing ever”! I’ll be busting out another post with more video and more detail but our guides Kelly and Chad, managed the group, the snow, the runs, and our safety beautifully! They carefully got a feel for the group and systematically dropped us in, moving us over one pitch after another on the Water Dogs Lake side, getting us to the best snow on those east faces that had filled in and had become a little variable with the wind effect. I’ll wait to tell you more about the west facing “No Name Bowl” runs and the other group members in the next post – stay tuned!
