Loveland Ski Area

If convenience is the concern, the ski experience at Loveland Ski Area is hard to beat. This is the perfect park for those looking to jump in and jump out within a reasonable amount of time. For a weekday get-away, Loveland is at the top of the list.

In less than an hour, you can be up to the Eisenhower Tunnel, burrowing under the Continental Divide; part of the ski area sits right on top of the tunnel on the east side of the divide.

An abundance of expert terrain above tree-line makes Loveland a score for those who want to be up and skiing in a minimum amount of time. Also a great place for beginners and intermediates with lifts and slopes to fit every level.  Many generations of skiers and snowboarders have taken their first runs here.

Loveland also serves as a gateway to the backcountry for those so inclined but also has hike-to skiing and boarding, as well as rails and slides for the parks riders.

Shopping and food are limited but satisfying and enjoyable and the towns of Idaho Springs and Georgetown are not far away. Planning is a must for getting into the mountains on I-70 around the weekends and holidays.

This place is awesome. Great runs with each of them with its own flavor. Service and friendliness of the staff was excellent. No crowds at all. Did not have to wait even an instant on any of the lifts. Perfect place and does not have that overdevelop feeling. Skied Copper mountain and I would choose Loveland anytime. Great place. Super cold though. (courtesy – SkiTown.com)

My Take: Loveland is one of those reasons living and skiing in Colorado is how the phrase “the Colorado Dream” came to be. A reasonable dash up from Denver, right on the Continental Divide, steep shots, frequent storms and dumps . . . Loveland is a huge favorite with many, especially the front rangers.
