Buttermilk Mountain

Buttermilk Mountain is one of four fantastic mountains in the Aspen / Snowmass area and is one of the four mountains of this world famous ski resort destination:

  • Snowmass
  • Aspen Mountain
  • Aspen Highlands
  • Buttermilk

These four areas total close to 5,000 acres of land, over forty lifts, 335 runs and trails, and are home to the some of the steepest drops in the state of Colorado. The best terrain with the most diversity can be found here, deep in the Heart of the Rockies.

Buttermilk Mountain is just one of the four grandiose skiing centers here, and can be found around 3 miles from Aspen town. Almost all of the acreage on Buttermilk Mountain is groomed daily which makes it perfect for the large number of beginners and intermediate skiers learning the ropes of skiing and boarding.

While it is notable for being a great place for beginners, this is the home of the ESPN X Games. The X Games are definitely not for beginners. The professionals can be found around the Crazy Train Terrain Park, which boasts the title of being the world’s longest and most challenging. Watch the pros practice their moves or get out here on your own to start the path to becoming one of them. With the fantastic mix of beginner pleasure to pure mountain mayhem, Buttermilk Mountain is a superb location near Aspen.

Buttermilk is a great mountain. It is fun for all skill types since the terrain park is amazing, their are blue cruisers, and on tiehack there are some pretty tough runs. Great place. Aspen is amazing! (courtesy – SkiTown.com)

My Take: Ok . . . this is what I think – since Aspen is like the place where are the movie stars hang, Buttermilk looks like the place you would go ski around with your Hollywood starlet girlfriend. Or maybe the wife and kids. I haven’t skied at Buttermilk so I don’t know but just being in Aspen is cool as hell.
